Our livestock and crops are worth bragging about. However, as prices rise, America’s ranchers aren’t getting the money they need to keep their businesses afloat.
While 80% of the beef market is dominated by only FOUR companies, Ranchers-Cattleman Action Legal Fund has pointed out that meat packers are seeing extravagant increases, yet farmers and ranchers face “unjustly discriminatory and monopolistic practices.”
South Dakota farmers and ranchers deserve protection from those attempting to control the market and rob these families of a generational heritage.
I am committed to ensuring that American farmers are also protected from outside competitors, which is why I am a proponent of the Country-of-Origin Labeling. Agriculture is not only important to our state, but also invaluable to our country.
